Undeniably, there's a certain electricity about auditioning in-person for casting directors, writers, producers, directors, and studio/network executives. Face to face appointments allow decision makers to experience your energy and personality up close, as well as before and after your read. That said, in-person auditions can also limit some of your options. You may not be able to control critical elements such as the quality of your reader or the number of takes you want. In a casting office, if your reader isn't very good, the vitality and reality of your audition scenes may suffer. Likewise, asking a room full of TV writers and producers for "too many" takes can make you appear indecisive or unprepared.
